Many of the yoga poses we practice today are named for Indian mythical heroes and legends from long ago. The story of the warrior pose emerges from a Hindu take told in the Puranas, Texts composed between the 3rd and 10th centuries. The story is rife with symbolism and, like most myths, reflects and ancient battle between good and evil, between the higher self and the ego, between renunciation and civilization, and between consciousness and materialism…
