Join Sheila Ewers for a week in Magical Bali, Indonesia

Treat yourself to a week of yoga and exploration at the astonishingly beautiful Bagus Jati Spa Retreat in the mountains of Ubud, Bali.  Deepen your practice. Nourish your body with Ayurvedic and traditional Balinese spa treatments.  Connect with like-minded women, and reconnect with all that is sacred to you.

Bali is the most popular island holiday destination in the Indonesian archipelago. The island is home to an ancient culture that’s known for its warm hospitality, exotic temples, and palaces set against stunning natural backdrops. Its cultural tradition is rich with ceremony and artistic expression, and its landscape is diverse and inspiring. I traveled the entire island in January to find the perfect location for our week of retreat and renewal, and I’m happy to say that this is not only the most beautiful resort I’ve encountered in Bali but is at the top of the list of the most beautiful places I have visited in all the world.

Our Destination, Bagus Jati,  is set in 13 acres of hillside gardens amongst lush tropical forests in the mountains of Ubud, Bali, where the days are warm and the temperature at night will be 65 – 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Nearby are the famous rice terraces of Tegallalang, the charming Taro Village, the remote and tranquil Gunung Kawi Sebatu Temple, and the famous holy springs of Tirta Empul. The bustling city center of Ubud is just 20 kilometers away, and transportation is provided there daily.

 Bali Travel Details

US Citizens traveling to Bali, Indonesia need a current passport. Check the expiration date to make sure that it does not expire within 6 months of your trip. A 30 day visa known as VoA (Visa on Arrival) is also required and can be obtained easily by completing an online application HERE 2 weeks befoe your arrival in Indonesia.

Flying into Bali

The local airport is Denpasar International Airport (DPS) –  located in the south of Bali and very near to most of Bali’s main tourist areas. The international and domestic terminals are next to each other. Most flights to Bali involve a layover in South Korea, Japan or Singapore. It’s a long haul, but well worth it!

If the retreat is your first stop in Bali, Bagus Jati resort can make arrangements for pick up and transportation at the cost of $45 per person each way. If you would like this option, please let me know, and we will handle the booking for you. If you are planning to arrive in Bali prior to the retreat and need a driver, we can also make those arrangements with a driver we know and trust who will make your trip special.

Since it takes such a long time to get to Bali, we highly recommend adding a few days to the beginning or end of your trip.

Some of the resorts and locations we highly recommend are:

Mimpi Resort Menjangan: Hot Springs and nearby incredible snorkeling in the Northwest corner of the Island

Puri Bagus Candidasa: The sister property to our retreat location, located on the water with the same level of customer service and excellent dive and snorkel training

The Yoga Barn, Ubud: Simple accommodations in the heart of Bali’s Yoga Center

If you arrive very light at night, as often happens with international travel, there is a lovely hotel right at the airport: Novotel Bali Ngurah Rai Airport. It provides a simple way to rest and refresh with a good night’s sleep so that you are ready for your adventure the next day.

We understand that booking transportation can be daunting! Don’t let that stop you from fulfilling a travel dream! Sheila is more than happy to guide you through the travel booking process if you need help. Email Sheila with any questions you may have.
